We Made It!

We arrived at the HCMC airport around 10:30. Until we got through immigration, baggage claim, customs, and got to the hotel it was midnight. Then we spent time repacking our bags, separating the donations into separate luggage so they can be taken to Kien Giang ahead of us. We are basically running on adrenal at this point because we really have not had much sleep since we left. I'm sure we will be turning in super early tonight.

Outside the airport the 1st thing you notice is the oppressive humidity. And the sound of horns is non-stop. They use them all the time over here when they drive.

The hotel is clean and comfortable. We slept without sleep sacks and am happy to report that we didn't get any bed bug bites. It was just too hot in here last night to add any additional layers. The electricity in the room (including the air conditioning) only works when you have your key in a special slot in the room. So if you leave for any length of time it takes awhile to cool down again.

Our hotel is in what is known as the backpack district. It is in the middle of a lot of stores, including a tatoo parlor (no, I won't be coming home with one!).

Today we will stroll around and see some sites and perhaps do some shopping. Later we have a press conference to go to and then we will probably turn in early.
